DAY 16 OF TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE 1, 4/10/2024
Today marked the 15th day of my teaching practice, dated October 4, 2024. I arrived at the school at 9:30 a.m., signed the register, and started the day with substitution classes for the 5th standard (5C) during the first period.
Later, during the 4th period, I had my scheduled class with 8th C, where I taught a lesson on chemical fertilizers. I began the class by engaging the students with random questions, such as asking what they had for breakfast and how many dishes they had, to spark interest in the topic. I then showed a video of a man spraying fertilizer on crops and asked why he was wearing protective gear. The students correctly responded that it was because the chemicals were poisonous, which led into my explanation of chemical fertilizers and the harmful effects of their excessive use. The students responded well and actively participated in the discussion.
During the 7th period, I returned to 8th C to teach the lesson on chemical pesticides. Since the topic was similar to chemical fertilizers, it was easy to draw comparisons, helping the students understand both topics more effectively. I first introduced the concept of pests and then showed them images of pests and explained the role of pesticides in pest control.
After completing the day's lessons, I signed out of the register and left the school by 4:30 p.m. Overall, the day went smoothly, and the students were highly engaged in both lessons.
