DAY 15 OF TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE 1, 3/10/2024
Today is the 15th day of my teaching practice, dated October 3, 2024. I reached the school at 9:00 a.m. and had discipline duty in the morning, where I checked the students' uniforms, nails, ribbons, and other details. After completing the duty, we signed the attendance register.
In the morning session, I was assigned substitution classes for 5th, 6th, and 7th standards. For the 7th standard, I taught a basic science lesson. During the 5th standard's PT period, I took the students to the ground, where they played while I supervised them. For the 6th standard, I engaged the students in an interactive session, asking general knowledge questions and playing a vocabulary game.
In the afternoon session, I had my scheduled class with 8th C to complete my lesson plan. Since it was the seventh and last period, the students were tired, but I managed to capture their attention with an introductory video on microbial fertilizers. I introduced the concept of fertilizers, differentiating between organic and inorganic types, and then focused on microbial fertilizers. I showed pictures of earthworms, which some students found amusingly disgusting, and ICT images of bacteria like Rhizobium and Azotobacter, as well as aquatic plants like Azolla. The students were familiar with some of these concepts and participated actively when I asked them questions.
I concluded the class with a review activity, but since it was the last period, time was limited, and the students were eager to leave. Despite the challenges, the lesson went well, and I was able to cover the necessary content.
